People Focus – Meet David Evans our New Business Development Manager

Our team is expanding; this month, ACS welcomes two new business development managers to the company as we continue to build momentum expanding our distribution and customer base across the UK.

David Evans arrives with over four decades of experience in construction, having held several prominent positions across the sector across Sales, Distribution and Partnerships.  Here he shares how his personal ambition is matched with the enterprising growth strategy at ACS, and how he can’t wait to build on the existing ACS portfolio.

I’m delighted to be here at ACS, meeting new people, new clients and getting stuck into the accounts I’ve already been assigned to.  

I’m joining at a time where the company is driving positive changes and growth in a challenging market, so my first twelve months will be spent establishing and growing new sales bases throughout the UK and breaking into new areas such as low rise builds. 

Things have shifted in the last four years, the trend for wind-posts on low-rise has risen, driven by the demand for larger, open-plan spaces with extensive glazing and bi-fold doors, which require additional support against strong wind loads. There is now a great window of opportunity to explore this avenue which I’m well positioned to do. 

ACS people are meticulously technical, and precision driven, and in over 40 years in the sector I’ve seen no company more technically adept than ACS. I’ll be leaning on that as I establish my own relationships with existing and new clients.  

A career for life 

I first stepped foot on a construction site at age 22 and have metaphorically been there ever since – I still find it highly rewarding and full of interesting people. My dad had a joinery business which opened the door, and after studying accountancy at 18 and working in an office for a couple of years I decided very early on that life in an office was not for me. That said, the accountancy side has well aided my career looking after high-profile accounts over the years.  

I’m incredibly eager to get stuck in at ACS, grow my account base and drive positive change. It’s inspiring being in an environment where ambition is high, and I’m looking forward to committing myself to achieving – and exceeding expectations.
