Four Apprentices Join ACS

ACS Stainless Steel Ltd continues to expand, with four new apprentices, Gerald Krasniqi, Cameron Locker, Jack Little, and Drew Pyper joining the company in recent weeks.

The four, all aged between will work across all aspects of the business, from engineering drawing and programming through to laser-cutting and welding.

Taking on apprentices is nothing new to ACS. The company has longstanding partnerships with education providers in the region, which proved a real draw for the four newcomers – as did ACS’ unique position within the construction sector.

“My goal was to help shape the future of the construction industry and ACS works to that same goal, which made it the perfect place for me,” explained Cameron.

Cameron’s thoughts were echoed by Drew Pyper, who added: “A large contributing factor to my decision to join ACS is the time and effort spent on developing their design team and facilities. That stood out and I saw ACS as a company with the desire to always improve and one that helped staff develop with them on that journey.”

All four will spend time working with different departments, learning all relevant aspects of technical production or manufacturing, depending on their core focus. By giving them such a complete overview of the business, all apprentices will gain a thorough understanding of the processes involved and gain additional skills and abilities.

“ACS has always looked to the future,” said Commercial Director Tony Higson, “As a company, we really value the importance of supporting the next generation of bricklayers, fabricators and engineers and taking on apprenticeships are a fantastic way for us to do that.

“We like to make sure all new starters hit the ground running – especially our young apprentices. So to test their mettle – if you’ll excuse the pun – I asked them to reproduce some World War One silhouettes that we manufactured for a client last year. We gave them some scrap mild steel and the brief, and they all knocked it out of the park.

“Everyone in the ACS camp is delighted with the start that all four have made and we all look forward to working with them in the coming months.”
