The introduction of the Building Safety Act and the new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) has changed how construction projects are designed, specified, and approved. For higher risk buildings (HRBs), detailed information now needs to be submitted earlier in the design process, particularly at Gateway 2.

At ACS, we are committed to helping architects, engineers, contractors, and developers navigate these requirements with confidence.

What is Required for Gateway 2 Approval for Masonry Support?

Under the guidance, Masonry Support is a safety critical item. This means detailed design is crucial to achieve approval, but also to demonstrate compliance. For Masonry Support, this means the following is required:

  • General Arrangement Masonry Support plans, detailed with bracketry setting out to construction issue.
  • Detailed Sections for Masonry Support, including all fixing instances required for installation.
  • Full Calculation Pack for all Masonry Support systems, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for bespoke fabrications.
  • Specification, Certification, Data Sheets and DOPs for all products.

This information must clearly demonstrate how the design meets Building Regulations, covering predominantly structural integrity (Part A) and fire safety (Part B).

How ACS Demonstrate Compliance

We act as your masonry façade solutions partner in the early stages of a project assisting architects, contractors, developers, and design teams by ensuring a co-ordinated, compliant, and commercially viable masonry support strategy is achieved.

  • Single Point of Contact – An ACS Technical Specification Manager manages the “Golden Thread” of information, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
  • Detailed Designs and Revit Detailing – We provide fully coordinated Revit Models, developed to construction issue, to assist with clash detection and QA.
  • Competency and Compliance Statements – Project-specific documentation that evidences regulatory compliance, as well as the competence of ACS. Our Masonry Support and almost all products in our range are CCPI accredited and are certified by DOP’s, BBA or KIWA. Plus, all necessary technical datasheets are provided.
  • Specification Support – We also use NBS Chorus, and all ACS products are fully listed for specification through NBS Source, making it easier for architects, designers, and contractors to confidently select and integrate our systems into their projects.
Why This Matters

Every designer and supplier on a Higher Risk Building project must now demonstrate competency and compliance.

With ACS, you have a partner who:

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the information and evidence the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) requires from suppliers for Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 submissions.
  • Understands and aligns with the latest CLC and BSR guidance.
  • Can demonstrate competency and compliance on all submissions through product certification and detailed design.
