Delivering Support: DX Group’s Role in the Steel Soldiers Campaign – Insights from Nicola Peat

It takes a whole host of people to bring our Steel Soldiers Campaign to fruition and one of the vital cogs in the wheel is our wonderful distribution partner DX Group.

This campaign, which means so much to us all, raises funds for the Army Benevolent Fund, (ABF) in turn helping soldiers and their families with their onward journeys post service. DX Group plays a vital role in supporting this initiative with a delivery partnership, guaranteeing that our Steel Soldiers arrive safe and sound to our customers.

Here we chat to DX’s Regional Sales Manager, Nicola Peat, who tells us why they are more than happy to assist.

“We’re delighted to be involved”

The Steel Soldiers Campaign is wonderful, and the funds raised for the ABF make a huge difference to helping veterans get back on their feet. It’s a very meaningful charity and the impact is clear to see – it makes a huge difference to people, and we’re delighted to be involved. You can’t always see the difference you make with some charities, but with the ABF you can – it clearly helps people at a time in their life when they really need it.

It’s particularly special for us as we employ many ex-army operatives throughout the business. Their training in the army means they arrive with a great skill set which is easily transferable to transportation. We have general managers and drivers amongst them – and they are highly skilled trained drivers, bringing an unparalleled discipline to the job – we’re incredibly grateful for what they bring.

Spreading the word

DX Group has recently signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant and I’m attending an event in Leeds next month to talk to ex-army people and offer another link for them to find a new future. It just opens another avenue of potential work as the skills are so transferable. It’s important to spread the word and provide opportunities as they may not know where to look otherwise.

We’re keen to offer jobs to them and help them secure a future, whilst recognising how valuable they are as employees, it’s a win-win! It’s a brilliant way to connect with them and I’m proud to be a part of it.

We’ve worked with ACS for many years, delivering their steel products day in, day out so we didn’t hesitate to work in partnership with them delivering their amazing Steel Soldiers. We’re different from many distributors in that everything we deliver is manually handled – we offer an incredibly reliable and safe delivery service for items that are difficult to deliver. It’s more labour intensive but it’s the way we like to do it and it’s why we’re entrusted with deliveries UK-wide.

As a company we can deliver items up to 6 metres in length, so we’re well versed in handling large and irregular dimension freight alongside the likes of a standard parcel – we’re proud to deliver the soldiers and be a part of this wonderful campaign.
