Christine Farnell chats to us on the back of her recent promotion from Project Manager to Regional Sales Manager where she oversees the Northern patch of ACS looking after brickwork subcontractors. Her positive ‘can do’ attitude and aptitude for dealing with people makes her a perfect fit for ACS, it also helps that she loves to bake, with her colleagues happy to taste test!
“the management have an open door policy which is great, our ideas are warmly received”
I’ve worked at ACS for 6 years and it’s a brilliant place to work. My career progression has continually evolved and I’m really happy with my newest role. I began in sales in the North in 2018 before moving onto the South for a year before becoming Project Manager. Now I’m the Regional Sales Manager where I work with my partner in crime, Nick Backhouse.
My job covers a multitude of responsibilities including managing the accounts, quoting and doing our best to win jobs and basically being available to assist where needed.
It’s busy and sociable and I love dealing with my customers, they’re what I enjoy most about my role. It’s all about building a rapport with them and maintaining a relationship which I find a natural and organic part of the process and fits well with my personality. They look after me and I look after them, it’s fundamental to the success of my job.
I have a solid team in the North full of fantastic people. They are all highly motivated and dedicated which makes it a brilliant place to work, we’re all on the same page and have gelled really well together. They also don’t mind being guinea pigs for my baking which I love to do, I’m the unofficial ACS baker!
I’m a relaxed soul and when I’m not at work I like to chill out at home with my husband of 22 years Kevin and our two cats, Bella and Scarlet. You’ll usually find me binge watching the latest crime drama or immersed in the Discovery channel.
ASC is a great place to work and I particularly admire the open door policy that the management initiated. It encourages everyone to be involved and feel included in decisions, with our ideas always being warmly received.
