Details
The ACS 2000 Range Tie is a multi-purpose debondable wall tie that’s designed in accordance with all relevant standards, depending on its use.
Conditional on its length, the tie either operates a cavity tie in line with PD 6697 or, with the addition of a debonding sleeve*, a movement tie. As a movement tie, it accommodates in axis movement of up to +/- 10mm.
The tie also exceeds the requirements of a Type 1 tie as specified in BS EN 845-1. Additionally, it has been tested in line with the stated guidelines in both BS EN 846-5 and 846-7. It is, therefore, suitable for use in buildings of any height, altitude or location.
Ties are available in sizes ranging from 200-350mm and can be used in cavity walls up to 225mm – making it the go-to tie for construction projects of all sizes.
As well as being debondable, the tie has the lowest profile for a formed tie in the UK market. This opens up opportunities for more economical use of fixings within the cavity wall as other products such as mesh or bed joint reinforcements can be placed at the same tie as the tie, considerably shortening installation times. The minimum mortar joint thickness that this tie is intended for is 10mm.
CE marked, each tie has clearly defined embedment markings along the body of the tie. These indelible marks are set at 62.5mm to help ensure and check that each tie is installed to the minimum required depth of 50mm.
2000 Range Ties are manufactured in Grades 304 (BS EN 1.4301) or Grade 316 (BS EN 1.4401) austenitic stainless steel, making it compliant with PD 6697, and classifying it as A1 non-combustible. There is also an integrated drip feature that acts to prevent water from crossing the cavity.
All of this adds up to the tie being the most cost-effective option out there as the dual-purpose 2000 Range offers not just procurement efficiencies, but on-site efficiencies too. It can perform two tasks on one site and leftover stock can be transferred between applications or sites, reducing wastage.
With its new, slimline design and ability to be used as either a cavity or movement tie, the 2000 Range is a first in the United Kingdom. It is the biggest development the wall tie market has seen in a generation.
INSTALLATION & BEST PRACTICE
Wall ties should typically be installed at a density of at least 2.5 ties/m2 for walls in which both leaves are thicker than 90mm. This can be achieved by spacing the wall ties at 900mm horizontal centres and 450mm vertical centres, staggered at alternate courses.
Wall ties should be evenly distributed over a wall except around openings or at an un-bonded panel edge where the tie density should be increased to 225mm vertical centres within 225mm of the opening or edge.
The length of the wall tie should be sufficient to allow an embedment of at least 62.5mm meaning that the minimum embedment of 50mm is always achieved after allowing for site tolerances.
